01 / THE CONCEPT
What moves us together?
A school of fish turns as though under a spell, each body responding to those nearby. Cardumen brings this collective movement to the desert, exploring Spellbound through the invisible pull that draws individuals into something larger.
02 / THE ARTWORK
A current taking shape
Small sardines made from reclaimed sheet metal form a rising spiral, from near the playa to above visitors’ heads. Their silver bodies catch the sunlight, while slender supports let the landscape show through. At night, subtle illumination reveals the spiral against the darkness.
03 / THE EXPERIENCE
Step inside the school
Two opposite entrances lead into narrow, curving passages, where the fish gradually rise around you. Other visitors appear and disappear through the shimmering gaps. Follow the curve, pause, encounter someone—you become part of the school.
